I’m not being poetic or something. But that’s literally the name of an island in Kepulauan Seribu (The Thousand Islands) in Indonesia, Pulau Harapan.
And November is not yet to end, so #movember movement is going on. It basically means November is the month to move on, from whatever past we’re dealing.
Did you think Kepulauan Seribu are still beautiful? I used to. But visited some of its islands in the last 6 months, made me realize that the water are still beautifully blue, sometimes green. Some of the beaches are still beautifully white. All still beautiful above, but no longer in underwater. The coral reefs there are already bleached, totally not beautiful.
The island itself taught me about moving on, and keep believing on hope is one of the luxurious thing in life.
Due to lack of knowledge, people there used to fish using trawling (and the like). It caused bleached coral reefs, definitely not a scene we wish to see while snorkeling or diving. It also means less fish to catch because coral reefs are where fish live. But, people there have moved on from regreting what they did in the past, and deal with it by regrowing the coral reefs.
They belief that they can regrow the bleached terumbu karang. It indeed takes time to rebuild the ecosystem, but if we bring bread while snorkeling there, beautiful coloured school of fish will come to us. The hope to have it fully restored, beautiful above and under water, still remains.
#Movember for me was how to move on from having bad relationship with boyfriend. Now, it’s how to move on from bad moments in a relationship. See how I’ve moved there?😉
If it’s for you, what will your #movember be?
