Do You Believe in Global Warming?

22 Aug

Have you ever watched An Inconvenient Truth (2006)? It’s a documentary film by Al Gore, United States former Vice President. He made this film as a campaign to raise global warming awareness as a worldwide’s problem.

Along with this film, from news everywhere like newspaper, magazine, internet, TV, I’ve known that global warming is real. It’s not only an unproven theory anymore. I mean, look at our global temperature. Whether it’s too cold or way too hot. Left alone the unstable whether, that we’re supposed to have dry season in August but we still have heavy rainy day in the middle of it. Or the frequent rise of sea water level because of the melting gletser in the pole? Did you know that the snow thickness in Puncak Jaya, Papua, is degrading by years? What do you call that if it’s not global warming?

So it did bother me alot when a friend of mine said that he didn’t believe in global warming, that there’s no global warming happening. Instead he said, “There is somekind of World Secret Organization that takes control of everything that is happening, and takes some profits of it. This organisation also manipulates informations that related to it”. That statement really did make me rolling on the floor, laughing out loud. Any Russian guy really always think that everything is secret-agency-related. Haha.

Seriously. If we don’t believe in global warming when science proofs are everywhere, then there’s no other thing to say that it’s God’s work, right? I’m not gonna say something about punishment for what’ve done to the earth in the past, but it’s just how it works. The causality effect, Newton’s 3rd Law, they’re all talks about the same thing. When we do a thing, we got something in return. If we don’t believe in science, then we must be believe in God. Because there’s no other explanation how could gletser at the pole is melting? How could, let say, we, human make them melt when we can’t even control the pregnant moms to give birth?

That, my friend, is something we need to overthink. And if you also haven’t watch The Happening (2008) yet, in my humble opinion, you have to. We need to be good with mother nature, because somehow it has somekind of self defense, that I bet we don’t want to mess up with.

There may very well be global warming, but the earth has always cycled between too hot and tool cold, to wet and too dry. Man has not created it in the past and is not creating it now. God controls the whole thing and it is probably related to man’s time on earth.

Jesus tells us not to worry (Matthew 6) about the things we need to live, and that includes air, food and water. Trust in God and he will supply … global warming or no global warming.

The way I see it, anyway …

wow 🙂 thanks for the insightful comment Lena. i also believe that man has no power to do so

Neither a film by Al Gore nor what the newspapers say are proof of anything. Notably, there is not even a consensus among scientists. (Even if, in my impression, a majority are in favour of the hypothesis of man-made global warming—the “man-made” being a crucial qualifier: Global warming, in and by itself, is not a bad thing.)

    • nadiafriza August 23, 2010 at 5:30 pm #

do we need to achieve total concensus to proof that something is valid? no. there always be pros and cons about something. the consensus amongs the pros are enough to proof it, imo 🙂

global warming isnt a bad things. it is just something happening

It’s not a matter of “believing” in Global Warming. Global Warming is happening. It’s almost certainly primarily mankind’s fault. And it will cause severe problems. There’s no question about that. It’s a fact.

    • nadiafriza August 23, 2010 at 5:32 pm #

kinda agree with you. global warming is caused by mankind, sadly

  4. febriy August 23, 2010 at 3:01 pm #

never heard about those movie…. if talk about believe or not i think Im gonna believe it, but I wont use it as a belief…, we cant deny it, cuz it has happened since man have ability to use tool on their life, even just a stone, they start to cut tree using that stone… more2 & more, finally with the development of technology, the nature has killed slowly…. but we just feel it now, feel the impact of global warming….. 😐

    • nadiafriza August 23, 2010 at 5:36 pm #

that could be true 🙂 that global warming is happening as accumulation of what human did in the past. only i think, it started from the invention of steam thus lead to industrial era

    • nadiafriza August 23, 2010 at 5:41 pm #

ada organisasi global yg menggerakkan dunia di balik layar sih saya percaya Sop. tapi lingkungan bukan bidang mereka, mungkin politik. how they could cause Global Warming? naikin temperatur dunia? nurunin temperatur ke titik ekstrim? ngelelehin es di kutub? kok saya rasa manusia masih belum punya kekuatan sebesar itu yaa 🙂

      • Asop August 27, 2010 at 6:52 pm #

Loh, gini Nad.

Jadi, ingat, hanya isu. Only God knows…

Nb: saya baca, penggerak organisasi besar tsb adalah orang Yahudi.

        • nadiafriza August 27, 2010 at 11:44 pm #

        • Asop August 28, 2010 at 3:41 am #

Nah, kalo begitu global warming benar adanya. 😀

        • nadiafriza August 28, 2010 at 11:09 am #

ehehehe.. maaf yaa argumen lo masih ga bisa gw terima soalnya 🙂

        • Asop August 28, 2010 at 8:28 pm #

Well, alam lagi aneh emang gue juga setuju. 😀

What in the world is happening here? Speaking in tongues is not proof that global warming is man made or necessarily bad. Where I live we could use some warming in the months of November to March.

    • nadiafriza August 25, 2010 at 12:57 am #

i think the proof that icy rain happened in Indonesia recently isnt only a speak of tounge. and that isnt supposed to be happened remembering that Indonesia is a tropical country. that’s what a global warming could do

  7. Arif R. August 24, 2010 at 8:54 pm #

  8. kang ian August 30, 2010 at 7:03 am #

    yes i believe..hehe
udah nonton the happening..seru walau agak2 absurd jalan ceritanya 😀

    • nadiafriza August 30, 2010 at 11:48 am #

jalan ceritanya ga absurd kok mas 🙂 ide cerita nya yg rada absurd

  9. kangmas ian August 30, 2010 at 7:05 am #

    opps salah login 😀

    • nadiafriza August 30, 2010 at 11:49 am #

  10. sepri September 3, 2010 at 5:15 pm #

    i just believe in God………hehe

    • nadiafriza September 3, 2010 at 8:25 pm #

  11. Yori September 3, 2010 at 8:02 pm #

Global warming is a quite complicated issue…
I have watched those films and I have written it couple months ago…

Anyway… we just need to care to this planet earth no matter whether global warming exist or not

    • nadiafriza September 3, 2010 at 8:27 pm #

“need to care to this planet earth no matter whether global warming exist or not” >> nice one 🙂 if we do this, that means we do really care about the earth

  12. Wirawan Winarto September 9, 2010 at 4:07 pm #

yes. it really happens. I was once drowned into a discussion with an environmental professor from Bogor and he thinks global warming is not just a political issue (although it may stir up political controversies after all). global warming is a fact.
the problem is whether it is man-made or natural, nobody can prove this so far.

    • nadiafriza September 9, 2010 at 4:38 pm #

in my humble opinion, whether it happens naturally or caused by human isnt that important 🙂 what’s more important is what we do towards it

      • Skydancer (Guardian Angel) September 12, 2010 at 12:58 am #

Well, Nadiafriza, it really does matter whether it’s us or not. Because if CO2 is causing Global Warming (at least partially), then reducing our CO2 production (which has no other deleterious side effects) can help to slow GW. If CO2 isn’t causing GW, then there’s no point in reducing our CO2 production. In that case, maybe seeding the atmosphere with Sulfate Particulates would help to stop it (which has the side effect of causing pollution).

So whether or not it’s us that’s doing it has a very direct affect on what we do about it.

        • nadiafriza September 13, 2010 at 10:19 pm #

Carbon dioxide? I always thought Global Warming is caused by CH4 as in Methane, no? 😀

      • Skydancer (Guardian Angel) September 16, 2010 at 10:12 am #

Nadia: There are several gases that cause Global Warming and methane is one of them (and is actually a stronger greenhouse gas than CO2) but we are producing far, far more CO2 than methane so CO2 is by far the most important one at the current time.

        • nadiafriza September 16, 2010 at 6:43 pm #

You’re right, pardon me 😐 We produce CO2 alot contributing to global warming.

I do believe CO2 as the main cause of greenhouse, ergo causing global warming. Don’t you think so? The trapped CO2 on earth is what causing global warming, imho.

  13. Dion Barus September 16, 2010 at 12:16 pm #

Obviously I do as I wrote those phenomenon along with Climate Change into my thesis. By my surprise, I got A and graduted Cum Laude. Only retarded who do not believe these very visible facts. 🙂

    • nadiafriza September 16, 2010 at 6:44 pm #

“Only retarded who do not believe these very visible facts.” >> word! 😀

      totally agree with you 🙂

cum laude? wow! i envy you 🙂 congratz!
