Do you ever think about it? About how many siblings do we have and the impact that cause by it to our life. I have 2 siblings, a younger sister and a younger brother. Yes, I’m the eldest.
In Indonesia, and other developing countries, 2-3 children at home is normal. 1 is rare, more than 3 is big. Whilst in developed countries (read: especially Europes), “a child only at home is normal. 2 children is maximum amount, more than 2 is bizzare”, said my friend.
Can you see the difference? Them who live in the developed countries, who must be prosper enough than us, only have 1 child while we, who live in the developing countries, can’t stop ourself to have more than 1 child.
Okay.. they might be not me or even you remembering that we haven’t married yet. But I bet somehow they are our parents.. and grandparents.. our ancestors.
They have been doing it since decades ago, while people in developed countries also have been doing the thinking of “a child only is best” also in decades ago. Our ancestors may have seem to forget about the amount of mouths they have to feed before the mouths they have been feeding later on could feed them.
The fact actually proves one thing, that our people don’t have what so called as ‘visionary thinking’ at my major at college. Or it does actually prove that Indonesians aren’t that poor?
Hmm.. what do you think?
