How Many Siblings Do You Have?

1 Jun

Do you ever think about it? About how many siblings do we have and the impact that cause by it to our life. I have 2 siblings, a younger sister and a younger brother. Yes, I’m the eldest.

In Indonesia, and other developing countries, 2-3 children at home is normal. 1 is rare, more than 3 is big. Whilst in developed countries (read: especially Europes), “a child only at home is normal. 2 children is maximum amount, more than 2 is bizzare”, said my friend.

Can you see the difference? Them who live in the developed countries, who must be prosper enough than us, only have 1 child while we, who live in the developing countries, can’t stop ourself to have more than 1 child.

Okay.. they might be not me or even you remembering that we haven’t married yet. But I bet somehow they are our parents.. and grandparents.. our ancestors.

They have been doing it since decades ago, while people in developed countries also have been doing the thinking of “a child only is best” also in decades ago. Our ancestors may have seem to forget about the amount of mouths they have to feed before the mouths they have been feeding later on could feed them.

The fact actually proves one thing, that our people don’t have what so called as ‘visionary thinking’ at my major at college. Or it does actually prove that Indonesians aren’t that poor?

Hmm.. what do you think?

there is such as a suggestion in our people that ” more kids, more wealth” . if they have more kids ,they will have more change to earned fortune.. so, the number of childern is proportional to wealth… ho2…

        oh, we could..
My more dramatic response would be that most indonesian people is not as individualistic, they love to have more and more people at home. The more the merrier. They also think that when they get older, there’ll be a lot of kids that can take care of them.

For poorer people, you can blame on their education, for lacking ‘visionary thinking’.. that’s why they never know HOW to plan on having children, or WHY they should do so.
even though not all the poor are uneducated..

OR.. they simply just dont know what else to do at night.. (haha, jus kidding)

I’m the youngest child, the one and only boy in my family. I have 2 older sister, same as your family.

Kata orang tua dulu sich “Banyak anak banyak rezeki.” heheheh, ga tau kalo sekarang mah. 😀

soalnya di hari tua bakal banyak yg bisa ngurusin orang tua kita. tapi sebagai orangtua mesti bisa ngebesarin n ngedidik anak2nya dulu.. makin banyak anak berarti makin banyak mulut yg mesti dikasih makan 😀

Yap, kebanyakan anak juga ga enak kayaknya. 😀
Keluarga ibu n ayah saya, mereka sebelas bersaudara. Jadi saya punya dua puluh om-tante-pakdhe-budhe. 😆 Kelebihannya, setidaknya ketika membutuhkan bantuan, banyak yang membantu. Saya sendiri cuman dua bersodara, adik satu. Saya terus yang ketiban tanggung jawab.
