Yesterday I joined an english course English On Net (EON). Yoan asked me to join this course, and I thinked.. “Hmm why not?”. I need another media to improve my english. EON held the class via yahoo messenger conference every monday and thursday night. Quite different huh? Yeah.. let say we have conversation class in this course, else we save our time by not heve to go the course’s place (like in other regular english course).
Let me copy you the basic background of EON:
It is actually a programme that I made for Exxon Mobil Charity 2009. I only got a chance to joined the charity programme because one of the qualifications is I have to graduated the bachelor degree first. so this year’s charity, I joined it and just started on January 2009.
Overall this Exxon’s Charity had been in since 6 years ago, and every year they have been helped many countries in need. for example, last year exxon mobil charity helped china, angola, and india to decreasing poverty in those 3 countries. and for this year, Africa is the domain. we’re helping preventing poverty and HIV/ AIDS across Africa.
So, top 5 universities joined this charity for so long because they’ve been in related with Exxon itself. they are: Princeton University, Yale, Harvard, Stanford, and UCLA Berkeley. each of university has one team consists of at least 10 people in it, and each team will competing to be the best team to raising money for this charity. they can choose any kind of programme they wanna do to earn money for exxon charity.
So I’m the team leader from Princeton University, and Gavin as my personal advisor, and the others are members of the team, we are gaining money to get donate to Africa within the programme that I made of education stuffs.
In a nutshell, I return to Indonesia last February till early March to promote this charity-course. But that’s not all, there’s something in mutual benefit — I can say, because the students who join the course and they can barely invite other people to join altogether to this course, they have chance to get the new link and scholarship or experience of work, etc etc in United States. That’s because my personal advisor, Gavin B. James is also one of the stakeholders of Exxon, and he’s one of the country’s leading man in business who have the access to grab some new skillful people into the business.
So, it’s a fundamental and amazing thing to grown, and deserve to have massive progress. I say, let’s show the countries-fellowship that Indonesia has some great value supporting this major charity from the world-leading oil company (the biggest one, now days)
So, if there’s any of you who are searching for an online english course, JUST JOIN EON 🙂 You dont have to be an indonesian, since EON has classes for japanese, vietnamese, and singapore citizen.
I had a chance to chat with THE REAL David Cook. He became my EON’s class guest mentor. And this is what he thinked about EON: “it’s kool one, sure. english on net is the non profit based on english education with lots of beneficial being offered for students and also the great charity. it’s about gives back and increasing the level of the english“.
As you can see from the comment by Korban EON (EON’s Victim) below, be careful if someone offers you this program or alike guys.
Korban EON: It would be better if you study about this program careful. Don’t believe every words being said to you instantly. (You) better crosscheck (the program) in details, don’t be consumed by the so called gift. Thanks guys..
It has been 3 years since I first posted this entry, and the story is still going on. Last night I just read messages from persons who also had same/related experience with this program. Apparently, the message was sent a year ago, but it was skipped in between messages.
What do you think fellow students? Should we move on? Or get this done until we have clear answers?
